Learn to play piano, from scales to worship songs.
A free daily piano course: all 12 major scales, their chords and inversions, the progressions songs are built on, and a new worship song every week, played with both hands.
What the course covers
All 12 major scales
Fingering for both hands in every key, two keys a day, with a full circle-of-fifths review on Sunday.
Chords and inversions
The seven chords of every key, named by number (I, IV, V, vi) so they work in any key, in every position.
Progressions
The chord patterns worship songs are built on, with smooth voice leading and passing chords between them.
A 30-minute routine
Warm up, scales, chords, progressions, song and a quick test. Every key comes round at least twice a week.
Tests and ear training
Name the chord, mark the keys, inversions and ear tests, with your accuracy tracked by key.
Courses and certificates
Beginner, intermediate and advanced streams, each with a timed final test and a certificate when you pass.
The seven chords of C major
- These eight white keys are the C major scale: C D E F G A B C.
- Build a chord on any note of the scale: take the note, skip one, take the next, skip one, take the next. That gives every key seven chords. Tap one to see and hear it.
Numbers are what worship teams use: “1 – 5 – 6 – 4” is C, G, Am, F in C, and D, A, Bm, G in D.
The path to playing worship songs
- Weeks 1–2
Scales, one hand at a time
Learn where your fingers go in all 12 keys, slowly, without looking at your hands.
- Weeks 3–6
Chords in every key
Play the seven chords of each key and name them by number, so a chart in any key makes sense.
- Alongside
The progressions songs use
I–V–vi–IV, I–vi–IV–V and friends: most worship songs are built from a handful of these.
- Every week
A worship song, start to finish
Each Monday a Song of the Week unlocks. The daily routine builds it up section by section until you play it through on Sunday.
- Then
Your own church’s songs
With My Songs switched on, paste the chord chart your worship team uses and play it with both hands, in any key.
